“We’ve been touring on my last record for almost three years. We’ll wrap up the tour on May 11th in Fayetteville, NC. Then I’m headed home to get the new album [Humble Heart] ready for release, and to prepare for the crazy touring madness that is sure to follow.” Beckworth said.
NASHVILLE, TN - Carter Beckworth spent the last week finishing mixes for his new album, entitled, Humble Heart, which was recorded at Starstruck Studios in Nashville with legendary producer, Fred Mollin.
The duo (who released the acoustic EP, Wire Choir in December) had the opportunity to play as support for legendary artists like Radney Foster, Macia Ball, and Monte Montgomery to sold-out crowds at some of the nation's most highly regarded music venues.
The title-track and first single from Humble Heart will be released in February, and the album is scheduled to arrive in May 2013. The album will feature full-band performances of the six songs from Beckworth and Steve Bernal's acclaimed acoutic debut, Wire Choir, in addition to six previously unreleased songs.
AUSTIN, Texas - Life-long rock-and-roller, Carter Beckworth announced today that he will be releasing an acoustic EP this fall. For his third solo effort, Beckworth was joined in the studio by world-renowned cellist, Steve Bernal.
The pair has been touring the nation over the past year as a duo, charming listening rooms from Los Angeles to Chicago to Nashville, and traveling nearly every inch of highway in their home state of Texas to perform.
"Even though we both had our own solo albums, people at our shows kept asking if we had a recording available that featured just the two of us. We really did make this record for our fans as much as for ourselves," Beckworth said.
This album marks the first entirely acoustic collection from Beckworth, who released his solo debut in 2007, and is also known for his role as lead vocalist for the rock quartet, Baker Hotel, with whom he has also released two albums. Beckworth and Bernal completed three national tours as a duo in 2012.
"As our set progressed over the last year or so, we started playing only the more delicate songs from my albums, mixing those with some covers of folk songs we liked. Pretty soon we were writing new songs specifically for cello, guitar, and vocals. We chose to limit the instrumentation on the new material to reflect what we sound like at a live show," Beckworth said.
The E.P., which also features accompanying vocalist, Carrie Fussell, will be available exclusively through Beckworth's website as a free download on November 27.
AUSTIN, TX - Carter Beckworth's performance tonight at The Corner Pub in Conroe may be the last chance Texans have to see him play this winter. Beckworth and cellist, Steve Bernal will play 11 dates throughout the Midwest, wrapping up their acoustic tour on January 29th at Proud Larry's in Oxford, Miss.
Beckworth's raspy tenor and noteworthy picking style deliver themselves with ease over the flawless stringed accompaniment by veteran cellist, Steve Bernal. Beckworth released his self-titled sophomore album in August of last year. In addition to maintaining a relentless touring schedule, Beckworth has appeared on multiple television and radio programs, such as My Fox Austin and Balcony TV. The album’s first single, “Mabel” is steadily gaining airplay on over 200 stations, and was selected to be featured in two upcoming independent films.
“Beckworth’s voice is smooth, with just the right amount of soulful grit to his songs that build from their solid singer-songwriter frameworks into rootsy guitar driven pop.”
- Andrew Dansby, The Houston Chronicle
This run concludes a series of acclaimed performances for the duo, which brings a modern Americana feel to Beckworth's skillfully crafted originals. The tour, which begins in Oklahoma City, and peaks in Chicago, will also include stops in Indianapolis, Wichita, Kan., Springfield Mo., St. Louis, Urbana, Ill., Louisville, Ky. and Memphis, Tenn.
